Erasmus+ studies and traineeship for KU students

Who can become an Erasmus+ student?

Those willing to participate in the competition are to submit the following documents to the Department of Studies (Room 305, the Senate Building, Herkaus Manto Str. 84):

  • Erasmus+  application form online;
  • Transcript of records for the whole study period (confirmed in the Dean‘s Office); 
  • Recommendation of the Head of the Department, agreed on with the Dean;
  • A motivation letter (in Lithuanian, addressed to the Selection Committee);
  • Applicants are to pass a foreign languageknowledge test. Foreign language knowledge tests must be taken by all applicants for the Erasmus + competition (except for philology students who intend to study the speciality language).

Before submitting the documents, please visit the website of the chosen university and find out whether your study programme is in line with the courses offered by that university andwhether the last day to apply has not passed.

Students shall be informed on the selection results via e-mail.

Conditions for Erasmus+ studies

Students may only go to the institutions that the sending institution has signed exchange agreements with. Duration of studies in the partner institution is from 3 to 12 months. List of the Inter-institutional Agreements.

The study period abroad will be recognised as an integral part of the study programme at the sending institution.

All the credits and grades gained at the host institution will receive full academic recognition at the sending university.

No fees (tuition, registration, exams, or access to libraries or laboratories)have to be paid to the host university, except for some minor charges, e.g., insurance, a student union fee, the use of copying and print services ,and the like. The rates should not differ from those applied to local students.

Over one cycle of studies, students may participate in the Erasmus+ programme to a total of 12 months, irregardless of the number or type of mobilities (studies or traineeship).

Admission

Selection documents for the Erasmus+ student traineeship / studies:

  • Online application form;
  • Transcript of records with an average grade (for the total study period);
  • Recommendation of the Head of the Department (agreed on with the Dean);
  • Student‘s motivation letter;
  • Foreign language certificate (if needed).

Erasmus+ graduates traineeship:

The graduate traineeship may not begin until after graduation (diploma acquisition). However, all document regarding the graduate traineeship should be signed before graduation. Graduate traineeship must end up in 12 motnhs after graduation.

Priority in the selection shall be given to:

  • students whose study programme includes traineeship;
  • students who shall participate in the Erasmus+ mobility for the first time.

Selection criteria:

  • academic excellence;
  • student‘s motivation;
  • fluent foreign language to be used in the country of traineeship;
  • Previous Erasmus+ experience.

Erasmus+ mobility period

The traineeship period may take 2 to 12 months (1 month eqivalent to 30 days), no less than 130 hours and no more than 160 hours per month. 1 ECTS credit equals 26,66 hours of work (1,5 ECTS credit equals 40 hours of work).

Studies period may take from 3 to 12 months.

Erasmus+ mobility grant

Each student, who is selected in a competition and leaving as a participant of the Erasmus+  programme shall receive an Erasmus+ grant to cover the travel and accomodation expenses. However, it does not cover all the mobility-related expenses. Students may also go with the Erasmus+ zero grant:  it means they are not provided with funding from Erasmus+, however, are given the status of an Erasmus student (as well as all related privileges and responsibilities).

Students with disabilities or special needs may get additional funding.

How to find the place for traineeship?

  • Independently seek on the Internet for the places of traineeship: companies/organisations which you are interested in (and which match your study programme);
  • talk to the Head of the Department or your teachers;
  • use the places of traineeship offered by the initiative Patirties partneriai;
  • Look in international databases (e.g., iHipo, Leo-Net-JOEplus, ISPO, NordStages, EAEC database, iAgora).

Companies and organisations eligible or not eligible as host organisations

For the Erasmus+ traineeship mobility, student may go to an institution of higher education (IHE) awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education or a company/organisation in any of the countries-participants of the programme (the EU member states, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Turkey, and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia).

Erasmus+ traineeship may not take place in IHE or companies/organisations in Lithuania or in a student‘s country of residence.
