Title of KU Affiliate Professor Awarded to an Expert in Aquaculture from Germany

At the Innovative Aquaculture Forum AquaVip that started in Klaipėda today, a document confirming the status of a KU Affiliate Professor and a golden KU badge were handed to prof. Bela H. Buck, a scientist from Germany, who works in the field of aquaculture. He prepared and gave a presentation to the participants of the event. The symbols testifying to a close and productive partnership with KU were handed to prof. Buck by prof. dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, Rector of KU.

The decision of the KU Senate to grant the status of Affiliate Professor to prof. Bela H. Buck was taken back in the spring of 2020 on the recommendation of the Board of the Marine Research Institute. Prof. Buck has been collaborating with our scientists for several years, sharing his knowledge and experience in introducing aquaculture innovations in Lithuania. In his own country, he is a recognized authority of the science of aquaculture, author of numerous scientific works and projects, and Honorary President of the German Aquaculture Association, currently teaching at the universities of Bremen and Bremerhaven. Prof. Bela H. Buck extended thanks for the status of KU Affiliate Professor and promised to continue developing friendly relations with Klaipėda, which has become the center of Lithuanian aquaculture, in the future as well.

The status of affiliate researcher is an honorary title granted by the University. It can be awarded to Lithuanian or foreign researchers who do not work at Klaipėda University but who significantly contribute to the development of science and studies in it, who carry out applied research and educational activities. The tenure of an affiliate researcher is no longer than 5 years. After it expires, it can be extended an unlimited number of times.
