Klaipeda University Maintains Its Position in Prestigious Higher Education Rankings

Klaipeda University (KU) continues to strengthen its visibility in the international academic arena. In the latest regional QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, the University was ranked 467th in Europe, outperforming 51.4% of all ranked European higher education institutions. This result confirms the University’s consistent and positive development not only in Lithuania but also in the broader international context.

Across the indicator-based assessment, KU improved its performance in all 12 criteria. The most significant growth was recorded in the categories of sustainability (16.82-fold, or 1,582%), international student diversity (71%), and outgoing exchange students (30.4%). In the national comparison, KU also improved its standing and is currently ranked 6th in Lithuania. Within the Northern Europe region, Klaipeda University holds 148th place.

Outstanding Study Conditions, Mobility Opportunities, and Internationalisation

One of Klaipeda University’s strongest indicators in the regional ranking analysis is the student-to-faculty ratio. In the QS assessment, this criterion received an exceptionally high score of 95.3 out of 100. At Klaipėda University, there are 15.5 academic staff per 100 students, compared to the European regional median of 7.2. This means that the study conditions and level of individual attention provided to students at Klaipeda University are more than twice the European average.

According to the QS methodology, KU’s mobility score stands at 70.8, exceeding that of a number of other European universities. As a result, student mobility remains one of KU’s strongest areas in the European context.

KU also consistently maintains strong results in internationalisation. The score for incoming exchange students is 83.5, the international student diversity score is 30.1, and the international faculty ratio is 5.5 international academic staff per 100 academic staff. These indicators confirm Klaipėda University’s stable visibility and presence within the international academic community.

A Clearly Positive Direction

KU’s solid position in European university rankings, strong indicators of study conditions, and steadily improving mobility metrics demonstrate that Klaipėda University is strategically strengthening its competitiveness on the international stage.

“Looking ahead, we are purposefully investing in improving the quality of studies and research, expanding internationalisation, and developing innovative forms of partnership. Our goal is to further strengthen Klaipeda University’s position in both the national and international academic environment and to create an attractive setting for students and researchers from around the world,” emphasises Klaipeda University Rector Prof. Dr. Artūras Razbadauskas.
