Abstract
Tyrimo metodika. Atliktas kiekybinis tyrimas. Naudotas instrumentas – klausimynas. Tyrimui buvo naudoti slaugytojų profesinės gyvenimo kokybės (Quality of Nursing Work Life - QNWL) ir Vidinės darnos (Sense of Coherence Scale - SOC-13) klausimynai. Imtį sudarė – 240 respondentų. Aprašomoji duomenų analizė atlikta statistiniu programų paketu „SPSS 22.0.0.0 for Windows“. Tyrimas atliktas laikantis etikos principų. Tyrimo rezultatai.
Nurses are the biggest group of healthcare providers who must have a good professional quality of life in order to provide high quality and patient-oriented healthcare services. Stressful work environment is common for the nursing profession, which increases a psychological and emotional burden, for this reason a feeling sense of coherence among nurses must be strong enough to control it. Sense of coherence is a subjective assessment of internal and external health. It can be noted that there is a lack of research providing analysis on connection between sense of coherence and professional quality of life among nurses in the world, meanwhile only a few similar research could be found in Lithuanian science databases. Research purpose – to analyse relationship between sense of coherence and professional quality of life among anesthesia and intensive care nurses. Research methods. A quantitative research was performed. A questionnaire was used as a tool. Quality of Nursing Work Life – QNWL and Sense of Coherence Scale – SOC-13 questionnaires were used for this research. The sample was drawn from 240 respondents. A descriptive data analysis was performed using a statistical software package SPSS 22.0.0.0 for Windows. The research was conducted in accordance with ethical principles. Research results. The research has found that sense of coherence of anesthesia and intensive care nurses is high enough in all components. Out of three subscales nurses valued meaningfulness the most, while management – the least. An overall quality of professional life among anesthesia and intensive care nurses is of high level. It can be noted that nurses rated the work context as the best and work world as the worst out of four areas that make up the professional quality of life. In comparing data it was found that a better professional quality of life among anesthesia and intensive care nurses is related with a higher sense of coherence and particularly with a greater sense of management and meaningfulness. The results have shown that a better overall professional quality of life among nurses is positively related to higher sense of coherence, a greater sense of meaningfulness and management regardless of age, education, marital status, seniority or workplace. However, statistical differences by gender of respondents were noted. Statistically significant positive links with professional quality of life and all its areas were found only in women’s group, while no statistically significant links were found in men’s group. Conclusion. It was determined that there is relationship between a higher sense of coherence and a better professional quality of life among anesthesia and intensive care nurses.
