Research Interests
Professor at Sport, Recreation and Tourism Department at Klaipeda University, Lithuania. Since the 1st of September 2016 untill the 1st of January 2020 she was working as a Head of the Recreation and Tourism Department at Klaipeda University. Also she is a Professor at Šiauliai Academy of Vilnius University, in 2019-2020 she was working as visiting professor in Social Sciences faculty at University of Latvia. Diana Saparniene is a Member of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government (since 2007, at present - position of Alternate). During the period 2014-2016 she was working in the position of Vice-Rector for Research and Art, in 2004 - 2014 in the position of Head of the Public Administration Department at Siauliai University. Eucational background is in Physics and Mathematics, Master degree - in Physics-Education. In 2002 she gained a doctoral degree in Social Sciences. The doctoral dissertation topic: “Students’ Computer Literacy: Educational and Psychosocial Context of Society with Limited Resources”. She has experience participating and managing in over 15 Research Projects: sustainable tourism, nature guides training, projects on eLearning, on Gender Equality in ICT, on Universities Governance and etc. She is over author or co-author of more than 60 articles, 5 books, member of Editorial Board of 3 Scientific Journals. Scientific interests and courses in higher educational establishments: Innovation Leadership, E-Governance and Democracy, Social Research Methodology, Regional Research Methodology, Tourism and Recreation Research Methodology, Management Information Systems.
