The article deals with the quadrupole moments and transition probabilities B (E2) for light nuclei in the orthogonal-scheme basis with symmetric representations of the O(A-1) group. The nuclear properties are studied in the U (3(A-1)) scheme using two bases (schemes): unitary and orthogonal. In this work the authors analyze some problems of spectroscopic calculations in the orthogonal scheme. In this article the authors propose simple expressions for calculating the quadrupole momenta Q and the transition probabilities B (E2) in the orthogonal-scheme bases.
