Abstract
The article deals with the stabilization of the sandy coast; it discusses an example of the Curonian Spit in Lithuania. A period of 1999-2005 was marked by 4 storms of the hurricane strength at the Lithuanian seashore. All this resulted to the significant wind-induced seawater level raise, which is factor of primary importance causing the erosion of the sandy coast that being prevailing in Lithuania. A sandy peninsula called the Curonian Spit is under the patrimony of UNESCO. In the course of recent years occurrence of heavy storms has increased thus resulting in such a rapid process in which the loss of the dune slope sometimes can not be compensated by the means of the branch coverage.
