The article deals with the musical thinking as a factor of training of pupils' creativity. The aim of study is to reveal the contents of musical thinking meaning. Object of the study is musical thinking as a creative artistic spiritual phenomenon important for the inner life of the personality and social culture. Musical thinking is an emotional-intuitive and conscious analytical-synthetical creative activity disclosing the meanings of intonational language with the help of music means. The result of musical thinking is the music concept. The process of musical thinking based on the activity of feelings and intellect inspires the devepolment of the individual's creative powers. Pupils' spiritual-creative activity in the educational process is optimized when the structure of this process is based on the development of musical thinking. Musical thinking is qualitatively higher than a level of musical comprehension and, also, it performs the function of generalization from the point of view of musical skills.
