The state of metal surface layer considerably affects on the metal mechanical properties. Influence of surface layer on the mechanical properties of metals, possessing FCC and BCC lattices, increases, if the metal is subjected to special treatments due to technological reasons. Though after surface treatment it is possible to obtain higher part reliability and durability but the effectiveness of the treatment depends on the technological parameters. On their change, the changes of the modified layer thickness, itメs structure, magnitude of residual stresses and other factors that mutual relationship is not fully investigated is obtained. Metal mechanical properties variation is characterised by the stress-strain curves shape because it depends greatly on the crystalline lattice type of metal and previously carried out treatments. The objective of our work was to investigate how surface layer strengthening affects the mechanical properties of FCC and BCC lattice possessing metals, and how the shape of stress-strain curves depends on these changes.
