Bočkus, Daumantas

Abstract

Daumantas Bočkus is a Project Manager, Scientific Researcher, and Senior Lecturer at Klaipeda University, as well as an Associate Professor at Lithuania Business University of Applied Sciences, a Visiting Researcher at University of Eastern Finland, and a Visiting Lecturer at Hochschule Stralsund – University of Applied Sciences. Daumantas Bočkus holds a Doctor of Science degree (Economics and Business Administration) in Tourism Marketing and Management from the University of Eastern Finland.

His research interests include wellness tourism development, destination marketing and competitiveness, tourist experience, entrepreneurship and networking in tourism business, and sustainable tourism. He has published in international journals such as Tourism Recreation Research, International Journal of Spa and Wellness, and European Journal of Tourism Research. He participates in the implementation of different international projects related to sustainable tourism development of the Baltic Sea region.

Prior to starting a career in academia Daumantas worked in tourism business for more than 10 years, mostly in travel agencies. He also worked in United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) with the preparation of International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development (IY2017) and content related issues, such as the linkages between tourism and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
