Honourable award of Ukraine to rector of Klaipėda University

Prof. dr. Artūras Razbadauskas,  Rector of Klaipėda University,  became the first head of a higher education institution in Lithuania who was awarded the medal “For the Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine” for merits in the humanitarian field.  With this award, the Ukrainian society recognised the contribution of Klaipėda University in preparing advanced study programmes for Ukrainian students and creating exceptional learning conditions for Ukrainian children.

The award has been presented for the organisation and creation of exceptional conditions for the education of gifted children from Ukraine, children from the families of officers who took part in hostilities in the struggle for Ukrainian independence, and children from Ukrainian families living under difficult circumstances as well as for the implementation of advanced higher education programs for students from Ukraine and for supporting the  research in the history of Lithuania and Lithuanian – Ukrainian relations carried out by young Ukrainian researchers.

The medal “For the Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine” is one of the most honourable and popular awards in the Ukrainian society. It is awarded to military people who have distinguished themselves in the struggle for Ukrainian independence, politicians, volunteers, and public figures.Rodyti daugiau

“Since 2018, we have been paying particular attention to the Eastern Partnership countries. This award testifies to the successful activity of Klaipėda University in the development of initiatives in Ukraine. I am happy and proud of this expression of appreciation of the University efforts”, says Rector of Klaipėda University prof. dr. Razbadauskas.

The medal is awarded by the Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine (the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church).

The award has been presented through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine in Kiev.
