Klaipėda University was visited by Karsten Klepsvik, Ambassador of Norway to Lithuania.
He was accompanied by Mindaugas Petrauskas, Norwegian Honorary Consul in Klaipėda, Justina Snarskytė-Tamošaitė, Adviser on Political and Economic Affairs at the Norwegian Embassy, Inga Rudzinskaitė, Adviser on EEA/ Norway Grants at the Norwegian Embassy, Lina Mockutė, Executive Director at the Norwegian–Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce, .and Vilma Bružienė, Board Member of the Norwegian–Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce.
During the meeting, prof. dr. Artūras Razbadauskas, Rector of Klaipėda University, introduced its participants to the history and structure of the University. The possibilities of cooperation with Norwegian education and science institutions were discussed. Dr. Darius Daunys, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovations, who overviewed the University experience in project activities using the resources of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, introduced the activities of the KU researchers in the Arctic Ocean exploration, and expressed the intention of their taking an increasingly more active part in it.
Viktorija Vaitkevičienė, Chair of the Council of the Marine Research Institute, introduced the presently KU-created STEAM Centre and was happy to note that the experience of Norwegian colleagues in setting up a network of Newton Rooms in Norway was particularly useful at that stage. Dr Rima Mickevičienė, Dean of the Faculty of Marine Technology and Natural Sciences, spoke about the LNG Cluster, presently intensively developed at KU, and the studies in the field offered by the University.
