Each discipline in social sciences, e.g. economics, political sciences, sociology, education, etc., attempts to investigate the phenomenon of uncertainty within the borders of each discipline. The aim of this work is to analyse scientific literature on concepts of uncertainty in social sciences underpinning the elaboration of the definition of uncertainty. Interdisciplinary approach was carried out to arrive at uncertainty conceptualisation. Our research experience promotes the conceptualization of uncertainty as a situation with non-obvious algorithm of steps or actions. Uncertainty may change process implementation or situation development in a positive or negative manner or as the unity of both (positive and negative). Uncertainty cannot be considered as a positive or negative phenomenon only. Uncertainty requires an objective point of view that can be facilitated by the implementation of interdisciplinary research.
