Welding is known as a precise, reliable, cost-effective, and “high-tech” method for joining materials. For keeping competitiveness welding society has not only to develop and implement the newest welding technologies, materials, automatic or robots but also retrain, certify existing welding personnel and attract new people interested in welding, metallurgy, and closely related disciplines, like material testing. The iQSim project sponsored by EU Commission has another approach in welding education. Using of new skills improving program for “upgrading” of the existing workforce and by suggesting new simulation tool for new comers will help training and qualification system to work more effectively. Simulator that is designed for prediction of the performance of welding operation before parts are manufactured will reduce welding personnel training costs because it creates the capability to analyze welded joints and improve their quality virtually. The short analysis of welding personnel training systems in Lithuania is presented in the article for the evaluation of the benefit of the implementation of the simulator tool in to the education and training systems of the country.
