Background and Purpose. Pneumonia is a major cause of morbidity and mortality after stroke. We aimed to determine relationships between risk factors for pneumonia and acute stroke. Methods. We prospectively studied a series of consecutive patients with acute stroke who were treated on a stroke unit of Klaipeda hospital, 2004 through 2007.
