Abstract

The article deals with the harvest gods and spirits: from Kurkas to baubas and kuršis. The research discusses the origin, geographical distribution and functions of the Prussian god Kurkas, his relation with the gods of the Balts and other peoples and possible evidence of the worship of Kurkas in harvest and harvest threshing rituals based on written sources from the 13th-17th centuries, the work of investigators in the 19th and 20th centuries and folklore, ethnographic, linguistic, historical and other material.
