The results of scientific work, the purpose of which was the research of the properties of blended alcohol fuels and the character of their influence on the indicator process' parameters, fuel economy, the emission of harmful components in the diesel engine exhaust gases are presented in the article. In the initial stage of the research, comparative tests of a diesel engine when working on mineral diesel fuel and blended biodiesel-alcohol fuel RME - E: rapeseed oil methyl ether (RME) and ethanol (E) have been carried out. In the course of engine test, it has been shown that the increase of ethanol amount in biodiesel fuel up to 40% promotes the increase of indicator index η i of the tested diesel engine 1A41 by 2.5%. The decrease of CO and NOx emission has reached 10-12% on every 10% increase of ethanol amount in blend with rapeseed oil methyl ether. Different level of alcohol component's influence on CO and NOx emission of biodiesel fuel and also on indicator process' dynamics which has been defined experimentally, serves as the basis for the alternative improvement of diesel engine's operational parameters while working on blended diesel-alcohol fuels.
