Abstract (en)
The article deals with the changes in academic libraries and their impact on buildings' planning. On the background of analysis of professional literature the assumption on further high quality library buildings' importance in the coming knowledge society has been made in this article. Effective space planning recognises the importance of relationship between people, books and information technology in modern academic library buildings. The multipurpose and shared spaces as the way of building cost and space savings has been presented in the article.
