Abstract (en)
Structural features of open seaport jetties as cargo piers in usual and dredging harbour waters are analysed. Deterministic and probability-based methods for reliability assessment and prediction of hetties are discussed. The survival probability of jetties subjected to two different in nature lateral berthing and mooring impact actions is considered. The safety in the ground of axially loaded jetty piles is analysed. The numerical example illustrates the virtue of unsophisticated probabilistic aproaches and methods in hydraulic design practice.
