The treatment of incisional ventral hernia is one of the oldest problems in surgery practice. Not long time ago incisional hernia developed in every second operated patient. Of late years when science found the reasons of incisional hernia rise, when surgery technique improved and new materials of surgery stitch were implemented, the attitude of incisional hernia treatment has changed. The aim of this study was to make a research of scientific literature concerning tactics of incisional ventral hernia treatment. 37 articles on the topic were reviewed in the data bases: Medline, Springer Link, Science direct. Key words were used: incisional hernia, ventral hernia, laparoscopic ventral hernia repair, incisional hernia surgery. Conclusion. If modern methods of incisional hernia repair are applied and alloplastic materials are used, the recurrence ranges up to 10 %. “Sublay” method is the best for abdominal median line hernia repair. “Onlay” is technically the most simple and most suitable method for abdominal lateral zones incisional hernia treatment. Laparoscopic surgery method is the best for hernias bigger than 3 cm, but not suitable for repairing of abdominal walls defects bigger than 15 cm.
