Abstract (en)
According to Vladas Jakubėnas, the development of the Lithuanian musical culture was closely related to the history of the nation and state. He thought it was dangerous for Lithuanians to concentrate their exclusive attention on the elite art and stated that small nations have to foster folk culture and take part in the process of creation of that culture.
