Five 2 x 2 m test pits (a total of 20 m 2 ) were excavated during the evaluation at Vytauto St. 79, Palanga (Fig. 1). A 17th –18th -century cultu- ral layer with pottery, stove tile fragments, and other finds (Fig. 3) was recorded in test pits 1–4 (Figs. 2, 4). A storage pit and a hard-packed clay floor from a building conjectured to have existed there in the late 17 th –early 18 th century was discovered in test pit 2.
