The 2021 field survey of the GIPL gas pipeline route from the left bank of the Nemunas to the Lithuanian – Polish border (Lazdijai District) (1019+20 –1644+32), roughly 62.5 km (Alytus and Lazdijai Districts and Marijampolė Municipality, SW Lithuania) (Fig. 1), conducted by VU, KPIP, KU, KVP, and the LII, who equitably divided up the work area. The LII survey data was published in this publication for 2020. On the NW edge of Mikutiškiai village, the KPIP exposed a large carbonaceous stain from a domed furnace (Fig. 2), 14 C dated to the 3rd –4th centuries. The Dubenka folwark site was identified to the N of the pipeline route (Fig. 3). A 1617 Danish silver mark was found on the E edge of Pakašavas village (Fig. 4). In all, 29 metal artefacts (coins, seals, rings, and fittings), 8 flint finds, and 25 sherds of hand-built and thrown- partly thrown vessels were discovered. VU identified 8 find spots from various periods, including the remains of Stone Age settlements in Cibiliekai and Kalesninkai villages and traces of unenclosed Iron Age settlements in Cibiliekai and Ūdrija villages. The field survey identified 8 sunken objects and yielded 166 archaeological finds. KU discovered a pit with brushed pottery in Maštalieriai (Fig. 5), the remains of another 2 unenclosed settlements in Skituriai (Figs. 6–7), and sunken structures from various ages in Vytautiškė. It also retrieved 18 archaeologi- cal finds. KVP, in addition to 6 separate investigation sites, identified the remains of 5 unenclosed Iron Age settlements in Dzūkai, Kirsnelė, Mikniškiai, and Vingrėnai villages, retrieving a considerable quantity of hand-built potsherds. It also excavated 4 pits and 11 postholes in Vin- grėnai settlements. The field survey yielded 17 special finds, mostly coins and small metal items.
