Intermodal transport can be defined as all means of transport that are required for transportation of cargo or container from point A point B. Intermodal transportation object (in this case the container) is exposed to a variety of forces that can deform the container and cargo. The main problems are security of container and cargo in intermodal freight transportation in sea port territory. In order to reduce the risk of transportation there is a need to add intelligent systems that allow the partial control of risk and its factors to existing structures. In order to ensure greater cargo security level it is necessary to install an additional smart system into existing infrastructure, and improve the container tracking and cargo delivering reporting system. This article presents the concept which uses RFID technology for information about container status transfer. Remote data transmission system provides information for operators and automatic control systems. Developed smart container crane control algorithms based on RFID system provides information about the cargo. It also provides suggestions for establishing the intermodal transportation of cargo in port territory depending on the container contents. Combining RFID technology and specific control algorithms helps to avoid cargo damage while warehousing and loading goods. In the future, a system concept that simulates realistic data transfer management processes will be developed.
