Course Programme

Daily Course Schedule

                                                (on working days, except for the opening and closing days):

  • 9.00–10.30 1st lecture
  • 10.30–11.00 Break
  • 11.00–12.30 2nd lecture
  • 12.30–13.30 time for consultations, etc.

Trips, cultural events and other planned activities of the program are organized in the afternoons and weekends.

Attention! Students are given an arrival pack with the final version of the study programme during the first meeting. The course programme is explained in detail during the opening meeting of the course, followed by welcome gifts, course staff and participant introductions and expectations.

Trip to Neringa, to Curonian Spit National Park. The Hill of Witches in Juodkrantė, full of mythology and fairy tales, is something that you can see only here. We will visit the Dead Dunes, the Golden Dune, Thomas Mann`s House in Nida, the Amber Gallery, the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon. 

Excursion in the old town with a guide in Lithuanian and English languages.

International and friendship party. We will enjoy short, fun and entertaining presentations of various countries and their national cousine, prepared by the course participants. Traditional Lithuanian food, songs, dances and games.

Tour in Mažoji Lietuva – Lithuania Minor (Western Lithuania), 2 days. Švėkšna mansion, Mingė village – Lithuanian Venice, Ventė horn and other places of interest. Overnight in a rural farmstead: Lithuanian folk party, practical lessons in Lithuanian.

Interactive lecture “Lithuania in Europe and in the world: the past and the present” hold by the historian of the university in English and Lithuanian. 

Meeting a Lithuanian family. Mingle, picnic, outdoor activities, language practice.

The Sea Festival 2019 in Klaipėda. All the weekend a unique cultural and entertaining program will take place. The town celebrates this weekend almost restless (http://www.jurossvente.lt/)

Celebration of 767 Anniversary of Klaipėda in the Old Town. Handicraft market and a special cultural and entertainment program, bringing you back to the Middle Ages.

Trip over Lithuania – present and former capitals of Lithuania: Kaunas, Vilnius, Trakai, Kernavė. We will follow a road by the river Nemunas marked by hillforts, castles and the fight with the Teutonic Order.                               Overnight stay in Kaunas and Vilnius.

Interactive lecture and discussion “Virtual tour around the Lithuania” especially for those who did not go on a trip to Lithuania

Farewell Party in the Botanical garden of the university. Picnic, folk music, dances and songs.

Free time. On free time you can visit several places on your own: to explore Klaipėda, Smiltynė (the beach, the Sea museum and the Dolphinarium), Palanga (the favourite summer resort of Lithuanians and foreigners; the Amber Museum, the Botanical Garden, J. Basanavičiaus alėja), Kretinga (Franciscan Monastery, the Palace Museum, the Japanese Garden), Šventoji (resort) or Karklė (https://www.priejuros.lt/lt/kurortas/karkle/).
